Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Police say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say early analysis show the substance was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for information.
A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism left him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
